Reading exploded in the ninth inning for nine runs to break open a close game and beat the Harrisburg Senators 13-2 Tuesday night. It was the second straight game an opposing team scored nine runs in an inning against Harrisburg. The loss was the seventh straight for the Senators.

Ronald Herrera went six innings and earned a quality start allowing just two earned runs. He struck out seven and walked two. He allowed back-to-back home runs in the fourth. Reid Schaller followed with a one-two-three seventh inning. Francys Peguero pitched a scoreless eighth before allowing five runs in the ninth. Danny Dopico relieved Peguero and allowed four runs on four hits. Malvin Pena came on and retired the final two batters of the inning.

Rudy Martin had three hits and Daniel Johnson chipped in with two in his first game with the Sens since 2018. Justin Connell drove in a run with a triple.

Harrisburg went 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position and stranded nine. They twice loaded the bases and hit into double plays. Reading hit four home runs, a season high against the Senators this season.
