COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. – In a Copa de la Diversión series finale, las Calaveras de West Michigan (29-19, 53-59) hit four home runs to double up the Lansing Locos (19-28, 48-63), 12-6, on Sunday afternoon at LMCU Ballpark.

The result, combined with a Great Lakes 7-4 loss to South Bend, gave West Michigan a one-game lead atop the Midwest League East Division with three weeks remaining in the season.

Lansing starter Jorge Marcheco’s first two pitches were launched for home runs by Jackson Strong and Bryce Rainer, giving West Michigan an immediate 2-0 lead.

A Clayton Campbell roundtripper increased the lead to 3-0 in the fourth, and a Nolan McCarthy grand slam off Griffin Kirn capped an eight-run fifth inning, breaking the game wide open.

Trailing 12-0 late, a Jake Reinisch two-run homer in the eighth, and a Daniel Bucciero two-run double and Breyson Guedez two-run single in the ninth halved the deficit and wrapped up the scoring.

Reinisch finished the game 1-for-5, extending his on-base streak to 28 games. Bucciero finished 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored; Rodney Green, Jr. drew three walks; and both Guedez and Logan Sauve notched a pair of singles.

After a day off on Monday, the Lugnuts welcome the St. Louis Cardinals-affiliated Peoria Chiefs for a six-game series from Tuesday, August 18, through Sunday, August 23. For tickets and more information, call (517) 485-4500 or visit www.milb.com/lansing.
