LANSING, Mich. – Two nights after collecting 14 hits in a thrilling walk-off victory on the 4th of July, the Lansing Locos (4-7, 29-48) were held to five hits in a 5-1 loss to the Great Lakes Loons (8-3, 48-29) on Wednesday evening at Jackson® Field™.

Jack Winkler singled, drew two walks and scored on a Kevin Richards fourth-inning sacrifice fly, Euribiel Ángeles singled twice in four at-bats, and Drew Swift went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk to supply Lansing’s offense. The Locos finished 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Lansing opener Daniel Martinez gave up one run, an Imanol Vargas second-inning home run, in two innings, striking out two. Stevie Emanuels followed with six strikeouts over the next four innings-plus, allowing three runs in the fourth and one in the seventh.

Joe DeMers followed Emanuels with two innings, allowing one inherited run to score, before Angello Infante worked around a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth.

Right-hander Joey Estes (4.94 ERA) takes the ball for the third game of the six-game series, a Labatt Blue Thirsty Thursday at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m. and $2 domestic/$5 craft beer specials.
