On March 4, MLB Pipeline released its Top 30 prospect list for the Athletics' organization. Leo De Vries, the teenage shortstop acquired for Mason Miller at the 2025 trade deadline, ranks No. 1.

Lugnuts fans saw De Vries' skill personally: He hit for the cycle in Lansing in April as a member of the Fort Wayne TinCaps. After joining the Nuts, he scorched Dayton with seven hits in three days – including a double, two triples and two home runs – en route to a Double-A promotion to end the season.

15 members of the Top 30 have come through Lansing: De Vries (1), Gage Jump (3), Wei-En Lin (4), Henry Bolte (5), Tommy White (9), Joshua Kuroda-Grauer (10), Kade Morris (12), Steven Echavarria (16), Gunnar Hoglund (18), Junior Perez (20), Ryan Lasko (21), Kenya Huggins (24), Nate Nankil (26), Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang (27) and Cameron Leary (29).

Of those, there is the reasonable expectation that Jump, Bolte, Morris and Perez will make their Major League debuts sometime this summer.

Of those as well, there is the possibility that Lin, Echavarria, Huggins and Leary (pictured above) return to Lansing to open the 2026 season.

What of the other 15 prospects?

Above Lansing on the ladder:
* No. 6 Braden Nett, No. 14 Henry Báez, No. 22 Eduarniel Nuñez - upper-level pitchers traded to the A's in the Mason Miller deal, ticketed for Double-A Midland or higher.
* No. 17 Mason Barnett - acquired from the Kansas City Royals, made his MLB debut last year.

Cross your fingers:
No. 2 Jamie Arnold - southpaw drafted 11th overall in 2025 from Florida State, yet to debut in the minors but may jump over Lansing with a strong spring training. The A's would love for Arnold to skyrocket through the system.

Roll out the crimson carpet:
* No. 8 Devin Taylor - second-round outfielder set the Indiana Hoosiers home run record, should slug in the Lugnuts lineup sometime in 2026, joined by...
* No. 15 Gavin Turley - third-round outfielder from Oregon State known for his loud tools, a tremendous athlete with power and speed, supporting the pitching of...
* No. 19 Zane Taylor - fifth-round right-hander from UNC Wilmington made his pro debut in a Triple-A spot start, where he struck out four in two scoreless innings, and should star in the Lugnuts rotation alongside...
* No. 25 Cole Miller - drafted out of high school a round after Steven Echavarria in 2023, returned from Tommy John surgery to impress in Stockton last year
* No. 30 Bobby Boser - let's throw in the Florida Gator while we're at it, an 11th-rounder noted for his hitting (18 HRs) and getting hit (16 HBPs in college, followed by 8 HBPs in just 32 games for Stockton).

Farther away:
* No. 7 Johenssy Colome - 17-year-old shortstop yet to make his pro debut.
* No. 11 Edgar Montero - 19-year-old shortstop about to make his American debut after two years in the Dominican Summer League.
* No. 13 Shotaro Morii - 19-year-old shortstop/pitcher is expected to start the season in Stockton, one call-up away from Lansing.
* No. 23 Breyson Guedez - 18-year-old outfielder who hit .359 last year in the DSL and moves up with Montero.
* No. 28 Darwing Ozuna - 18-year-old outfielder struggled in the DSL in 2025 and will likely repeat the level this year.

Matching up the Top 30 with an optimistic hope for the 2026 Lugnuts roster sometime this year could look see a pitching staff with Steven Echavarria, Jamie Arnold, Kenya Huggins, Zane Taylor and Cole Miller, and a lineup with Devin Taylor, Gavin Turley, Bobby Boser and Cameron Leary.

But it's always worth remembering: Every year, players like Gage Jump establish themselves as Major League prospects because of what they do in Lansing.

Be ready for breakouts. And, as always, Go Nuts.
