DAYTON, OH – Mitch Myers struck out seven batters in five innings and three relievers took it from there, sending the Lansing Lugnuts (25-29, 56-63) to a fourth straight victory with a 4-0 shutout of the Dayton Dragons (27-27, 60-60) on Sunday afternoon at Day Air Ballpark.

The Lugnuts had lost the first two games of the series, but rebounded to win the six-game series in the Gem City thanks to their longest road winning streak of the season.

In each of the six games in Dayton, Lansing led by a 2-0 score. The Lugnuts repeated the feat immediately on Sunday thanks to a Colby Thomas first-inning two-run double off Carson Rudd, then added to it on RBI singles from Brennan Milone and Daniel Susac in the sixth against reliever Jayvien Sandridge.

The Dragons’ offense, meanwhile, threatened throughout Myers’ outing, leaving runners at first and second in the first inning; a runner at second in the second inning; a runner at first in the third inning; a runner at every base in the fourth inning; and runners at first and third in his fifth and final inning.

But Myers escaped each jam, joining Jose Dicochea from Tuesday and Gunnar Hoglund from Saturday as Lugnuts starting pitchers to fire five scoreless innings in the series. (Wednesday starter James González was barely left out, allowing one run in his five innings.)

There was no such drama against the Lansing pen: debuting Mark Adamiak fired a perfect sixth with a strikeout, John Beller tossed a perfect seventh with a strikeout, and Hunter Breault handled the eighth and ninth with one single allowed and one strikeout to lock up the Lugnuts’ fourth shutout of the year.

The Nuts now return to Lansing for their final six scheduled home games in 2023, welcoming in archrival West Michigan from August 29 through September 3. Tickets are available at the box office, via lansinglugnuts.com or by calling (517) 485-4500.
