Nuts' Echavarria promoted, Nove to start Thursday

The Lansing Lugnuts announced the following roster move in conjunction with the Athletics:

- Pitcher Steven Echavarria promoted to Midland (Class-AA – Texas League)
- Pitcher Jackson Nove received from Stockton (Class-A – California League)

Echavarria, 21, exits the Midwest League with the following league ranks: No. 2 in starts (20), No. 3 in batting average allowed (.254), No. 5 in innings (93 2/3), No. 5 in strikeouts (93), No. 5 in WHIP (1.47), No. 6 in ERA (5.28). Lansing’s 2026 Opening Day starter and the A’s third-round selection in the 2023 draft, Echavarria put his name in the Lugnuts’ record books, ranking 2nd in team history in career starts (45) and 4th in career strikeouts (181). He finished with a flourish, striking out nine Lake County Captains in six dominant innings on August 7 in a 13-2 Nuts rout.

Nove, 24, was signed by the Chicago White Sox as an undrafted free agent following four seasons at the University of Kentucky. He excelled for Class-A Kannapolis to start the year, striking out 41 batters in 23 innings with a 1.96 ERA, and was traded to the Athletics for 2022 Lugnuts outfielder Junior Pérez, who subsequently made his MLB debut. Nove recorded 53 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings for Stockton, going 2-3 with a 5.13 ERA. The southpaw is expected to start tonight at West Michigan in the third game of a six-game series. The Lugnuts and Whitecaps have split the first two games.

The Lugnuts next return home from August 18-23, welcoming the Peoria Chiefs to Michigan’s state capital.
