CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The first no-hitter of the 2024 Florida Complex League came on Saturday, as Enrique Segura and a pair of relievers -- Adilson Peralta and Josbel Garcia -- held the FCL Tigers without a hit, leading the FCL Phillies to a 5-0 win at the Carpenter Complex.
"It's really awesome," FCL Phillies manager Shawn Williams said after the game. "It doesn't matter if you're in little league, if you're in the big leagues, they're just equally as exciting."
Segura, a 19-year-old right-hander from San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, allowed four walks in six innings of work while striking out five. He had runners reach scoring position in both the second and fourth innings. However, the Tigers could not capitalize, as Samuel Rojas struck out to end the second, and Segura got another punchout of Rojas in the fifth and a pop out by Raudy De Los Santos to end the last threat he would face.
The Phillies scored runs in each of the first two innings thanks to a Guillermo Rosario RBI single in the first off Tigers starter Rayner Castillo. Catcher Jorge Mendez helped his pitcher with his first homer of the year an inning later.

"Mendez called a great game, so it was really great for Segura," Williams said. "[Helping them get] out to a lead, you can pitch even more aggressive."
The Phillies added two more runs in the sixth on a two-run triple by Juan Villavicencio, and Aroon Escobar's RBI single pushed the lead to a handful.
Peralta kept the gem going with two hitless frames, and Garcia struck out a pair in the ninth to finish off the milestone.
Williams said Mendez's aggressive calling helped both relievers stay in control of the game.
"What he did with Peralta was awesome, and [with] Garcia to finish it up," the Phillies skipper said. "Pitching with a lead, that's how you do it: [getting] strike one. And they were doing it all day."
