Reno, Nev. – Following a two-week road trip, the Reno Aces (24-27) will return to Greater Nevada Field for the fourth time this season as they host the Salt Lake Bees (23-27), the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, in a six-game series beginning Tuesday, May 28th.
The Aces went 5-7 on their two-city swing through Texas and Oklahoma but the club has won three of their last four contests and are coming off a split series with the Oklahoma City Baseball Club.
Reno showed their dominance over Salt Lake in their first meeting this season, securing five out of six games. The competition is set to heat up as Salt Lake is scheduled to host Reno for another intense six-game set. The two clubs are gearing up for a total of 18 face-offs this season, promising a season full of thrilling baseball action.
Among Salt Lake's notable players are Bryce Teodosio and Ryan Miller.
Teodosio, a standout outfielder from South Carolina, has been a force to reckon with for the Bees this season. His impressive stats include a .331 batting average, 21 extra-base hits, 21 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. Leading the Pacific Coast League in triples with seven, his performance in the previous series against Reno was nothing short of outstanding. Currently on a nine-game hitting streak, he has gone 14-for-31 (.451) with eight extra-base hits and seven RBI, showcasing his exceptional skills.
Miller made two appearances out of the bullpen against the Aces, limiting Reno to one run over 5.1 innings with four punchouts and one walk. The right-hander has been efficient for Salt Lake this season, posting a 3.38 ERA with a 22:3 K: BB in 24.0 innings of work.
Andres Chaparro, the power-hitting native of Venezuela, was a force to be reckoned with in their first meeting against Salt Lake. He went 9-for-24 (.375) with three home runs, seven RBI, and four walks. His signature highlight in the series was a two-home run day on April 21st, accompanied by three RBI. Chaparro carries a .309/.360/.527 slash line with nine home runs and 37 RBI, heading into the series against Salt Lake.
Humberto Castellanos was lights out in his lone start against Salt Lake on April 19th, working through the Bees' lineup for 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk with four punchouts while collecting the win. The 27-year-old has been hot lately, allowing four runs across in 11.0 innings in his last two appearances. The right-hander has maintained a 4.93 ERA with a 39:14 K: BB in 38.1 innings this season.
The six-game series begins Tuesday, May 28th, at 6:05 p.m. PT at Greater Nevada Field.
