Round Rock Suffers 10-4 Loss to Oklahoma City 

Dodgers Guarantee a Series Split Heading into Final Two Games of the Six-Game Series

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Oklahoma City Dodgers (31-21) defeated the Round Rock Express (30-22) by a final score of 10-4 on Friday night at Dell Diamond. The Dodgers extend their series lead to 3-1 with their second straight win after claiming a victory in the series opener.

Oklahoma City reliever RHP Justin Hagenman (4-2, 7.27) earned the win after a 1.0-inning performance. He allowed two runs on one hit, walked two and struck out two. Round Rock starter RHP A.J. Alexy (3-2, 6.29) was tagged with the loss after a 5.0-inning performance that saw four runs, three of which were earned, on seven hits. The righty also struck out two and walked two.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • Oklahoma City DH Jake Lamb earned a leadoff walk in the fourth inning before Round Rock RHP A.J. Alexy induced two flyouts. SS Andy Burns then smacked a double to score Lamb. CF Drew Avans followed suit with another double to make it 2-0. The Dodgers struck twice more on back-to-back singles from C Tony Wolters and LF Ty Kelly to increase the lead to 4-0.
  • The Express cut into the Dodgers lead in the fourth inning when DH Yohel Pozo walked and C Meibrys Viloria doubled to put runners in scoring position. With two outs, newcomer 2B Diosbel Arias doubled down the left-field line as Round Rock trailed 4-2.
  • A one-out walk for Express LF Steele Walker in the fifth frame set the scene for DH Nick Solak, who hit a line drive over the wall in left field and tied the game at four.
  • Oklahoma City recaptured the lead in the sixth inning. After an Avans single, C Tony Wolters was hit by a pitch. The two moved into scoring position as Avans stole third base and Wolters found second on a wild pitch. 2B Michael Busch singled away from the shift to send his teammate home for a 6-4 advantage.
  • Dodgers 3B Miguel Vargas smashed a solo home run to open the seventh inning. In the next at-bat, Lamb made it back-to-back bombs on a solo home run to center field.
  • The Dodgers added two more runs in the seventh inning. With RF Jason Martin on third base and Avans on second, Wolters hit a two-RBI single that extended the lead to 10-4. The score stood final as the Express were unable to close the gap.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Round Rock RHP A.J. Alexy made it through 5.0 innings for the fourth consecutive time. Alexy has now tossed five or more frames during six outings this season. Despite the loss, the right-hander holds a 3-1 record in his last four starts.
  • Express 2B Diosbel Arias collected both his first Triple-A hit and RBI on Friday evening. He finished the night 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
  • C Meibrys Viloria recorded the only multi-hit game for Round Rock. He finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and a strikeout. It was the seventh multi-hit game of the year for Viloria.
  • After being called up from High-A Hickory on Thursday, SS Frainyer Chavez made his Triple-A debut on Friday night, batting ninth and playing shortstop. He finished 0-for-4 with one strikeout.
  • Texas Rangers RHP Jonathan Hernández made his first Major League rehab appearance on the mound. The righty threw 0.2 innings and allowed two walks while recording one strikeout.

Next up: Round Rock and Oklahoma City will face off in game five of the six-game series on Saturday night at Dell Diamond. Dodgers RHP Sam Gaviglio (4-3, 6.81) is scheduled to make the start against a Round Rock pitcher to be announced. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. CT.
