Round Rock Takes First Three Games of Series Over Albuquerque After Thursday Night Drubbing

ROUND ROCK, Texas. – The Round Rock Express (19-17 | 63-47) won their third-straight game over the Albuquerque Isotopes (19-17 | 46-65) as they collected a 15-1 victory at Dell Diamond on Thursday night. ROUND ROCK, Texas. – The Round Rock Express (19-17 | 63-47) won their third-straight game over the Albuquerque Isotopes (19-17 | 46-65) as they collected a 15-1 victory at Dell Diamond on Thursday night.

Round Rock starter RHP Robert Dugger (6-8, 4.46) earned the win after tossing a season-high seven innings that included just one run on six hits. The righty walked two and struck out five. Albuquerque starter LHP Ben Braymer (3-2, 8.56) walked away with the loss after giving up six runs with five earned runs on five hits. He walked two and earned five strikeouts.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • Round Rock was on the board first in the first inning after SS Davis Wendzel smacked a solo home run to left field and made it a 1-0 game.
  • The E-Train lead was extended in the third inning after RF Elier Hernandez singled and Wendzel drew a walk. 1B Blaine Crim knocked in a run with a single and it was 2-0 game.
  • Another Dell Dinger came in the fourth inning after LF Sandro Fabian hit a solo shot to open the frame. A double and two walks loaded the bases for CF Bubba Thompson. A bases-clearing double made it a 6-0 game. The third double of the inning came from Hernandez which Thompson. DH Dustin Foscue knocked in the final run after grounding into a double play and Round Rock was up 8-0.
  • The Express had a four-run sixth inning behind three hits, one hit batter, two wild pitches and one error which extended the E-Train lead to 12.
  • A Round Rock shutout bid ended in the seventh as the Isotopes put one run on the board after DH Daniel Montaño led off with a double then advanced and scored on two ground outs.
  • In the home half of the seventh, Foscue had the bases loaded and was hit by pitch to put another run on the board. Fabian knocked in two more with a double and the score was 15-1 where it stood final.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Round Rock RHP Robert Dugger secured his 100th strikeout of the season in the second inning against Albuquerque DH Daniel Montaño. Dugger is now one of three pitchers in the Pacific Coast League with 100 punchouts. It is the first time since 2019 that he’s reached the 100 mark and it is the fourth time in his career.
  • After making the start in right field for the E-Train, Elier Hernandez appeared in his 100th game of the season, a mark just two other PCL players have reached. Hernandez singled in the third inning and extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
  • The 15 runs scored tonight have Round Rock sitting at 35 total runs through the first three games of the series against Albuquerque which is the most scored in the first three games of a series this season. The previous high of 34 runs came against Sacramento from June 17-20. It also marked the first time Round Rock has put up double-digit runs in three straight games this season.

Next up: Round Rock and Albuquerque will play in game four of the series at Dell Diamond on Friday night with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Express RHP Zak Kent (0-0, 0.00) will face Isotopes RHP Phillips Valdez (5-6, 8.52).
