Albuquerque Spills the Chili, Round Rock Wins Fourth Straight

Express Accounting Department Tallies 2-1 Win for E-Train on Friday Night

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (20-17 | 64-47) beat the Albuquerque Isotopes (19-18 | 46-66) by a final score of 2-1 on Friday night at Dell Diamond. The E-Train have won the first four games of the six-game set. Round Rock reliever RHP Cole Winn (6-6, 6.64)

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (20-17 | 64-47) beat the Albuquerque Isotopes (19-18 | 46-66) by a final score of 2-1 on Friday night at Dell Diamond. The E-Train have won the first four games of the six-game set.

Round Rock reliever RHP Cole Winn (6-6, 6.64) earned the win after delivering 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen. He allowed two hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Albuquerque starter RHP Phillips Valdez (5-7, 8.15) earned the loss after 5.0 innings with two earned runs on four hits while posting two walks and two strikeouts. Express LHP Jake Latz tossed the final 1.1 innings to earn the save. He did not allow a run while surrendering only one hit with four strikeouts.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • The Isotopes struck first in the top of the third inning. CF Wynton Bernard lifted a solo home run to deep left field and the visitors took a 1-0 advantage.
  • The Express tied the game at one when CF Elier Hernandez hit into a fielder’s choice with DH Jordan Procyshen on third base. The ground ball scored Procyshen to even the score.
  • Round Rock LF Dustin Harris smacked a solo home run 421 feet to straightaway center field in the fourth inning and put the E-Train ahead, 2-1. Albuquerque threatened in the ninth inning, but LHP Jake Latz worked around a runner on second base and secured the 2-1 victory.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Express RHP Cole Winn is now 5-2 with a 4.17 ERA (17 ER/36.2 IP) in 10 relief appearances this year. The righty was a starter in 11 of his first 12 outings this season and posted a 1-4 record with an 8.79 ERA (41 ER/42.0 IP) in those starts.
  • Round Rock CF Elier Hernandez extended his hitting streak to 16 games following a 1-for-3 night that included an RBI. Over the last 15 games, Hernandez is hitting .300 (21-70) with five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 11 runs scored, 11 RBI, one walk and 14 strikeouts.

Next up: The Express and Isotopes will get set for game five of the series at Dell Diamond on Saturday evening with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Round Rock LHP Cody Bradford (8-2, 2.74) will face an Albuquerque starter to be announced.
