Dodgers Open Series With 8-0 Shutout of Express

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (29-20) fell to the Oklahoma City Dodgers (29-20) on Tuesday night at Dell Diamond by a final score of 8-0. It was the third time Round Rock has been shut out this year.

Oklahoma City starter RHP Beau Burrows (2-3, 5.60) collected the win after 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball. He struck out eight and walked two while allowing four hits. Round Rock starter RHP Tyson Miller (2-2, 4.96) earned the loss after a 3.0-inning performance. He allowed four runs, three of which were earned, on six hits while striking out four and walking one.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • With one out in the second inning, Oklahoma City 2B Michael Busch and DH Ryan Noda each singled. C Tomás Telis added the third single of the inning and scored Bush to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.
  • In the third inning, Busch drove in the first of three runs in the inning with a single that scored SS Zach McKinstry and advanced LF Eddy Alvarez to second base. Noda then scored Alvarez on a double and Busch crossed home on an Express error to extend the lead to 4-0.
  • The Dodgers scratched across two more runs in the fifth. 3B Miguel Vargas was hit by a pitch to begin the frame and scored on an Alvarez double. Noda then collected his second RBI of the night on a single that sent Alvarez home as Oklahoma City held a 6-0 advantage.
  • The sixth inning for the Dodgers began as Telis was hit by a pitch and CF Drew Avans worked a walk. Vargas added on for Oklahoma City with a double that scored both runners and put the game out of reach for Round Rock as the Express would fall by a final score of 8-0.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Round Rock RHP Nick Snyder tossed a scoreless ninth inning as he continues to not have allowed an earned run this season. He has tossed a Pacific Coast League-best 13 outings and 11.0 consecutive scoreless innings this year and has surrendered only five hits. He has tallied 16 strikeouts to only six walks.
  • Express LF Bubba Thompson and C Yohel Pozo collected two hits each. Thompson finished 2-for-5 with a double while Pozo went 2-for-4.
  • Texas Rangers RHP José Leclerc tossed 0.2 relief frames that saw two runs on one hit and one walk during his first Major League rehab outing with Round Rock.

Next up: Round Rock will play game two of the series against Oklahoma City on Wednesday night from Dell Diamond. Express RHP Spencer Howard (0-1, 6.28) is slated to take the mound against Dodgers RHP Andre Jackson (0-3, 7.36). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
