Pozo Pushes Round Rock Past Oklahoma City 5-2 

Express Score Four of Five Runs with Two Outs

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (31-22) defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers by a final score of 5-2 on Saturday night at Dell Diamond. Round Rock collected five runs on 10 hits and scored four of their runs with two outs.

Round Rock reliever RHP Kohei Arihara (2-3, 5.70) earned the win after a 3.0-inning performance. He allowed one run on three hits and struck out two. Oklahoma City starter LHP Andrew Heaney (0-1, 3.00) went home with the loss after a 3.0-inning Major League rehab outing that saw one run on two hits. RHP Jesus Tinoco tossed 2.0 innings of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen for the save. He allowed only one hit and struck out three.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • The E-Train offense began to roar in the third inning. 3B Diosbel Arias smacked a double and 1B Zach Reks delivered a single with two outs to give the Express a 1-0 advantage.
  • In the fourth inning, more two-out magic extended the lead to 2-0. CF Leody Taveras singled to start the frame and RF Nick Solak earned a walk. After LF Willie Calhoun hit into a double play and moved Taveras to third base, C Yohel Pozo singled to score Taveras.
  • Oklahoma City got on the board in the fifth inning when SS Andy Burns drilled his seventh home run of the season and his first since May 12. The 397-foot dinger trimmed Round Rock’s lead to 2-1.
  • The sixth saw Taveras hit a single and Solak work a walk before Calhoun hit into his second double play of the night. With Taveras on third base, Pozo hit a line drive into the right-field corner for an RBI double and gave the E-Train a 3-1 lead.
  • CF Drew Avans closed the gap for Oklahoma City in the seventh frame. He led the inning off with a solo home run and the Dodgers trailed 3-2.
  • The two-out hits kept coming for Round Rock. Reks hit a two-out double in the seventh inning then DH Meibys Viloria blooped a double into left field to score Reks and increase the Express lead to 4-2.
  • Solak started the eighth with a triple for Round Rock. Calhoun snagged his first RBI of the night on a sacrifice fly to right field that extended the lead to 5-2. RHP Jesus Tinoco recorded the final six outs to earn Round Rock their second win of the series.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Express RHP Josh Sborz made his first start since 2017. He finished after 2.0 shutout innings of work and struck out one while walking one. In 13.1 total innings this year, Sborz has not allowed a run and has surrendered only five hits.
  • RF Nick Solak, C Yohel Pozo and 3B Diosbel Arias each recorded two hits and led the Express offense as the team totaled 10. Pozo drove in a pair of runs while Arias and Solak each scored once.
  • Texas Rangers RHP Jonathan Hernández made his second Major League rehab appearance and did not allow a run in a 0.1-inning relief performance. The righty allowed one hit and walked one.
  • RHP Jesus Tinoco earned his sixth save of the season and slammed the door on Oklahoma City. It is the fourth time this year that Tinoco has recorded a six-out save.
  • Round Rock held off the two Los Angeles Dodgers rehabbers as RHP Andrew Heaney went home with the loss after allowing one run during his 3.0-inning start and two-time MLB All-Star 3B Max Muncy finished the night 0-for-3 with one walk.

Next up: Round Rock and Oklahoma City will face off in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Dell Diamond. Dodgers RHP Beau Burrows (2-3, 5.60) is scheduled to make the start against Round Rock RHP Nick Snyder (1-0, 0.79). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. CT.
