EL PASO, Texas – The Round Rock Express (46-42) fell to the El Paso Chihuahuas (51-37) by a final score of 7-6 on Friday night at Southwest University Park. The Chihuahuas trailed 6-0 in the fourth inning, but came all the way back and won on a walk-off single from SS Eguy Rosario.

Round Rock reliever RHP Spencer Patton (4-4, 3.50) was tagged with the loss after a 1.1-inning performance that saw two runs on five hits with one strikeout. El Paso reliever LHP Tom Cosgrove (1-0, 6.00) earned the win after a 0.1-inning scoreless outing with one walk and just two batters faced.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • The Express continued their first inning fever. CF Bubba Thompson doubled to start the game. With one out, DH Andy Ibáñez singled to score Thompson and give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

  • RF Steele Walker added to the lead in the second inning on a 399-foot solo home run to center field and the E-Train held a 2-0 advantage.

  • Round Rock plated three runs and took a 5-0 lead in the third frame after a barrage of doubles. Three consecutive doubles for 3B Ezequiel Duran, Ibáñez and LF Nick Solak plated two runs as Ibáñez and Solak each snagged a RBI. 1B Nick Tanielu walked with two outs to extend the inning before SS Ryan Dorow singled to bring home Solak.

  • Thompson and Duran led the fourth inning off with singles to put runners on the corners for the Express. Ibáñez collected his third RBI of the night thanks to a sacrifice fly that increased the E-Train lead to 6-0.

  • El Paso started their comeback with three runs in the fourth inning on four hits and a hit batsman. C Brett Sullivan brought home two runs after a RBI single before 2B C.J. Hinojosa added one more run with another RBI single to cut Round Rock’s lead to 6-3.

  • In the seventh inning, a two out double for Chihuahuas LF Luis Liberato sparked the home team. After a catcher’s interference call allowed 1B Kyle Martin to reach base, 3B Kervin Pichardo tripled to score both runners and El Paso trailed 6-5.

  • The Chihuahuas tied the game at six in the eighth inning thanks to a two-out rally. Three consecutive singles from DH Luis Campusano, Sullivan and Hinojosa evened the score heading to the ninth.

  • After the Express left the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning, Martin doubled to open the home-half. A sacrifice bunt for Pichardo moved Martin to third and allowed SS Eguy Rosario to earn the walk-off single as El Paso took home the 7-6 victory.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • The top four hitters in Round Rock’s lineup all collected multi-hit games. CF Bubba Thompson and DH Andy Ibáñez both had two hits while 3B Ezequiel Duran and LF Nick Solak each posted a three-hit game. Solak had one RBI while Ibáñez led the E-Train with three RBI.

  • Friday marked the fifth time this season the Express have lost in walk-off fashion. Round Rock is now 39-4 when they have a lead after the seventh inning.

  • LHP Cole Ragans put together another solid start. He tossed 6.0 innings and allowed three runs on four hits with zero walks and six strikeouts. Ragans has lasted six or more innings in three of his six starts this year.

Next up: Round Rock and El Paso get ready for the fifth game of the series on Saturday night at Southwest University Park. Express RHP Tyson Miller (2-4, 5.10) is currently scheduled to start against Chihuahuas RHP Pedro Avila (3-2, 5.37). First pitch is slated for 7:35 p.m. CT.
