SYRACUSE, NY — Backed by some early offence and an excellent starting pitching performance, the Buffalo Bisons defeated the Syracuse Mets 10-3 on Wednesday night from NBT Bank Stadium.

The Herd put up four runs in the top of the first headlined by an RBI single by Rafael Lantigua, who then stole home against Mets’ lefthander David Peterson. Nick Podkul later knocked in a another run to give Thomas Hatch a comfy 4-0 lead.

Hatch was nearly unhittable over his 5.1 shutout innings, allowing just one hit and walking two while striking out four. Hatch continued his dominance over the Mets this season, having now thrown 16.1 innings of shutout ball over three starts against Syracuse.

Logan Warmoth would add another pair of runs in the third off a two-run homer to left, his seventh of the year, before finishing the night just a triple shy of the cycle.

After Eric Yardley finished off the sixth, Hayden Juenger entered in the seventh and loaded the bases with nobody out, but got out of the jam with just one run scoring after freezing Gosuke Katoh and Terrance Gore.

The Herd would end the night by scoring four more runs in the ninth off RBI singles by Nathan Lukes, Lantigua, and Podkul, before Foster Griffin wrapped things up in the bottom half to secure the win despite allowing a pair of runs.

The Bisons and Mets will continue their series tomorrow night with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. EST.
