The great Western New York summer tradition is back… the KeyBank Independence Night Celebration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Largest Fireworks Show of the Season returns to Sahlen Field on Monday, July 4th as the Bisons host the rival Syracuse Mets.

It’s been three years since Bisons fans have been able to gather together at the ballpark and celebrate our nation’s birthday with the Bisons and the BPO. But don’t worry… everything that you love about this great tradition is back, with several additions that will make this year’s edition even more memorable!

Monday’s game is slated to start at 6:05 p.m., but the Sahlen Field gates will open at the special time of 4:30 p.m. For all that will be waiting for you and your family upon arrival, check out our official KeyBank Independence Night Celebration FAN GUIDE below.

Tickets are available!

Single-seat tickets are available for Monday's game. Through Sunday, individual tickets are just $25, a $3 per seat savings over the day of game cost on Monday. There are no more BPO Family Packs available for the game.

The Sahlen Field Box Office will be open Friday from 9 a.m. – 5p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Box Office will reopen on Monday at 9 a.m.

Fans already with tickets who are using ballpark Will Call are encouraged to stop by the Box Office early to pick up their tickets in advance.

Entering the Ballpark & Security

With all the fun that’s planned for this year’s event, we’re opening the ballpark even earlier this year. The Seneca St. Gate, and the Inspire Dental Gate at Swan St. will open at 4:30 p.m., down the left field line, to give fans plenty of the time to get inside Sahlen Field.

As a reminder, all patrons will have to walk through metal detectors upon entering the ballpark. To ease your entry into the ballpark, please allow for a few additional minutes to enter and review the ballpark’s Carry-In/Security Policy before arriving. Prohibited items will not be stored during the game and there is no re-entry into the ballpark once you leave.

Pregame Ceremonies

You’ll want to be in your seat by 5:30 p.m. on Monday for all the pre-game ceremonies, highlighted by the team’s signing of 100-year old shortstop, Roy Kinyon, to a 1-day contract. Kinyon, a native of Lockport who in 1942 passed on a tryout with the Bisons to enlist in the US Navy and serve in World War II, will officially become part of the team to throw out the game Ceremonial First Pitch.

Our KeyBank Independence Night anthems (and God Bless America at the 7th inning stretch) will be sung by Buffalo-native and touring vocalist, Jay Dref.

Hot Dog & Coca-Cola Stations for a quick bite

If you have purchased a BPO Family Pack, we’ll have special Food Coupon Redemption Stands available at Sections 104 (Home Plate), 118 (1B side) and 119 (3B side) of the ballpark. You can still take your vouchers to any stand you want, but if you are not adding onto your order, use these redemption specialized stands to get your food quick and get you back to the ball game!

Consumer’s Pub at the Park is Open

…but reservations are filling up fast! The Consumer’s Pub at the Park restaurant is open starting at 4:00 p.m. with their fan-favorite All-You-Can-Eat Buffet. The buffet costs just $19.95 for adults and $12.95 for kids 12 and under and is the perfect spot to fill up before the game. To make a reservation, visit PubatthePark.com or call (716) 846-2100.

Stars & Stripes on our mind

The Bisons team will be wearing a special Stars & Stripes Cap, designed by the New Era Cap, during Monday’s game. These specially designed caps feature an all-red Buster logo centered over a paint-stroked American flag and are available in both the on-field 5950 and flex fit 3930 varieties in the Bisons.com Online Shop and in ballpark gift shops during Monday’s game.

The Set List: The BPO with special guest Joshua Vacanti

As is customary with this great ballpark tradition, the postgame concert will feature a fantastic mix of patriotic classics, pop culture favorite and stirring military tributes. Maestro Paul Ferington is back to lead the BPO in a concert that will begin roughly 40 minutes after the final out (subject to change). Joining the BPO this year is Lockport-native, *Joshua Vacanti**. Vacanti, who captured the hearts and attention of Western New Yorkers as well as the entire country by his performance on NBC’s ‘The Voice’ singing competition, will sing a pair of those pop culture favorites with the BPO; The Beatles’ Hey Jude and Queen’s Somebody to Love along with the Orchestra.

A Great Night ends with a Bang

You can’t have July 4th without a big Fireworks Show. It’s a ballpark tradition that we save our largest show of the season for the KeyBank Independence Night Celebration. So after an unforgettable baseball-concert doubleheader, sit back and enjoy as Buffalo’s own SkyLighters Fireworks of WNY light up the skies above Sahlen Field.
