May 16 Features Adam Delllinger vs. Ed Piotrowski Bobblehead Challenge at Ballpark

In conjunction with the Carolina Country Music Fest, WPDE, and Gator 107.9, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans announced last night that Saturday, May 16 will feature the Adam Dellinger vs. Ed Piotrowski Charity Bobblehead Challenge at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Fans attending the night will have the opportunity to take home the bobblehead of their choosing for a $20 charitable donation. Proceeds from the Adam bobblehead will benefit the McKnight Fund and proceeds from the Ed bobblehead will benefit Wreaths Across America.

“The charity bobblehead challenge is certainly different than our traditional method of distributing bobbleheads,” stated Pelicans General Manager Ryan Moore. “But we’ve chosen this approach because we do not view this promotion as a giveaway but instead as a fundraiser designed to do the most good. We’re excited to be partnering with Adam and Ed and know that this wouldn’t be possible without their support.”

The bobblehead challenge is not the only competition that evening. Throughout the game on May 16 Adam and Ed will compete in a variety of competitions in an effort to raise additional funds for their designated charity. The personality that raises the most funds will be declared the winner.

The McKnight Fund was established by the principal and members of the Seaside Elementary. The fund is designed to assist one of their own, second grader Maddie McKnight, who suffers from rett syndrome was recently and suddenly hospitalized. This rare, non-inherited genetic postnatal neurological disorder occurs primarily in girls and more rarely in boys. Rett syndrome leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of the child’s life.

“I have the honor to be able to work with, and support several Grand Strand Charities. Many of these charities impact hundreds of folks, stated Adam Dellinger, host of the Gator Morning Show. “Sometimes though, it’s really great to be able to help one person or a single family. Maddie’s story hit close to home for me and I’m thankful to be able to use the Charity Bobblehead Challenge to help her and her family during this unimaginably difficult time.”

Ed is a longtime supporter of Wreaths Across America, whose mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,100 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. Ed is working with the Florence National Cemetery to put as many wreaths as possible on graves at Christmas through the sale his bobblehead.

“Supporting the military and our veterans has always been a passion of mine,” stated WPDE Chief Meteorolgoist Ed Piotrowski. “I was involved with an event at the Florence National Cemetery a few years back and afterwards I made it a mission to help them out however I could. Last Christmas we raised enough money to lay wreaths on 9,000 graves. Our goal this year is to cover all 13,000.”

Single-game tickets, including those for the Charity Bobblehead Challenge on May 16, will be available beginning March 12 at the team’s Thirsty Thursday Ticket Party from 4PM-7PM. All tickets will go on-sale March 13 at 10AM. Tickets will be available online at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com/tickets, over the phone at 843-918-6000, and in person at the Anderson Brothers Box Office at TicketReturn.Com Field.

The Pelicans’ 2020 season will begin at home on April 9 against the defending Carolina League Champion Wilmington Blue Rocks. The 2020 season marks the 22nd year for the Pelicans on the Grand Strand and the sixth year as the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
