Reno, Nev. – The Reno Aces (16-10, 51-50) will travel west over the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Sacramento to take on the River Cats (11-16, 55-47), the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, for a six-game series beginning on Tuesday, July 30. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. PT.

Reno and Sacramento have matched up 18 times this season, and the Aces have taken the advantage with 12 victories, including a series sweep in their previous meeting.

Notable players on the River Cats roster include outfielders Jerar Encarnacion and Luis Matos.

Since joining Sacramento on June 15, Encarnacion has been a staple in the River Cats lineup. In the second half this year, the powerful right-hander has arguably been the best pure hitter in the Pacific Coast League. Through 31 games, he has the most home runs in the PCL (9), with Reno’s Adrian Del Castillo. Additionally, he ranks in the league’s Top Five in OPS (3rd, 1.037), SLG (4th, .603), total bases (T-4th, 70), RBI (T-4th, 29), OBP (T-5th, .434), and hits (T-5th, 40).

In seven games against Reno this season, the 26-year-old has been productive, going 8-for-24 (.333) with one home run, five RBI, and six walks. Encarnacion will look to continue his hot streak in the upcoming matchup.

If anybody enjoys hitting against the Aces, it is Luis Matos. In 11 games against the BLC-Nine, the 22-year-old has gone 18-for-52 (.346) with seven home runs, seven doubles, and 19 RBI.

Matos has made multiple stints with the big-league club this season, slashing .238/.317/.440 with four home runs and 24 RBI in 143 plate appearances. The Aces will need to contain Matos to produce a series win.

Andres Chaparro has been an issue for the River Cats this season. In 16 games against Sacramento, the power-hitting infielder has gone 23-for-66 (.348), smacking nine extra-base hits, including four round-trippers, and driving in a team-leading 21 runs. Chaparro has been incredible in the second half, hitting .412/.453/.691 with seven home runs and 26 RBI. The Venezuelan will be poised to continue his success against the River Cats this next week.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday, August 8, to host the Tacoma Rainiers, the Seattle Mariners' Triple-A affiliate. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
