Reno Tops Tucson, 7-2
Wladimir Sutil drove in a season-high four runs, and Brent Clevlen homered in the seventh, as the Aces cruised to their second-straight victory. After the Padres jumped on the scoreboard first, Reno answered with three runs in the second inning and never trailed again.
Aces starter Charles Brewer (11-7) earned the victory, improving to 7-1 since the All-Star Break. Brewer scattered just a run over 7.0 innings of work with three strikeouts and no walks. Joe Paterson notched a four-out save, his second of the season.
The loss fell to Padres starter Andrew Cashner (0-1), who surrendered three runs on four hits through 4.0 frames.
The series continues on Saturday night at Aces Ballpark. LHP Zach Kroenke (6-5, 5.92 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Tucson will counter with LHP Josh Spence (4-2, 4.78 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and it's Konrad Schmidt Bobblehead Giveaway Night, presented by KOLO 8 News Now.
