OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Round Rock Express (59-52) fell in the series final on Sunday night as the Oklahoma City Dodgers (64-47) posted a 20-3 victory at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Round Rock starter RHP Tyson Miller (2-6, 5.05) was tagged with the loss after 4.0 innings on the bump that included three earned runs on three hits, four walks and seven strikeouts. Los Angeles Dodgers rehabber RHP Dustin May (1-0, 1.89) earned the win in his second start of the week for Oklahoma City. May tossed 5.0 innings and allowed one run on four hits, one walk and 10 strikeouts.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • CF J.P. Martinez ignited the offense with a first-inning bomb for the Express. His 416-foot home run to center field lifted Round Rock to a 1-0 lead.
  • The Dodgers took a 2-1 advantage in the second inning. 2B Michael Busch singled to start the frame and RF Jason Martin belted a two-run home run to right center field.
  • Busch was involved in another run for Oklahoma City in the third inning. After CF Drew Avans walked and stole second base, Busch singled to left field. Avans touched home and the Dodgers held a 3-1 lead.
  • Oklahoma City scratched across five runs in the fifth inning and took a commanding 8-1 lead. Three walks and three hits fueled the big inning. Busch and LF Devin Mann drove home all five runs for the Dodgers. Busch smacked a three-run home run, while Mann scored two on a two-out double.
  • With one out, Oklahoma City loaded the bases in the sixth inning on singles from DH Miguel Vargas and Busch while Martin walked. SS Jacob Amaya came to the dish with two outs and provided a timely hit on a single to right field that increased the Dodgers lead to 10-1.
  • The E-Train manufactured a run in the seventh inning. After RF Josh Sale ripped off a two-out double, DH Diosbel Arias singled to cut the Dodgers lead to 10-2.
  • Round Rock tacked on another run in the eighth inning and closed the gap to 10-3. 3B Josh Jung was hit by a pitch with one out and 2B Mark Mathias roped a double to score Jung and tighten the score.
  • The Dodgers scored 10 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks to two walks, four hit batsmen, two singles and three doubles. Round Rock couldn’t complete a comeback in the ninth frame and fell 20-3.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • CF J.P. Martinez started August 6-for-39. After hitting four home runs in his first seven games with the E-Train, Martinez hadn’t gone deep since July 31. He changed that with a solo home run in the first inning. He finished the night 1-for-4 with a RBI, a run scored and two strikeouts.
  • RHP Fernery Ozuna made his Express debut and tossed 2.0 innings out of the bullpen. He allowed two earned runs on four hits, two walks and four strikeouts.
  • INF Nick Tanielu made his second appearance on the bump this year. Tanielu entered in the eighth inning and allowed five earned runs in his 0.2-inning performance. His fastest pitch clocked-in at a whopping 72.6 mph. The last time the Express had a position player pitch, Tanielu came to the rescue on April 7 against El Paso.

Next up: Round Rock will welcome the El Paso Chihuahuas (San Diego Padres) to Dell Diamond for the start of a six-game series on Tuesday. Neither team has named a starting pitcher for the series opener. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
