Hernandez Pitches Excellent Game to Give Charlotte 8-1 Victory

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights put together a strong hitting performance and once again had stellar starting pitching in an 8-1 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.  Knights starting pitcher Gaby Hernandez allowed just one run over 7.0 innings pitched to earn the win.

Eight Knights players hit safely in the game with Alejandro De Aza leading the way.  De Aza went 2-3 in the game with a home run and four RBI.  Dayan Viciedo crushed a home run in the 8th inning to deep left field.  The home run was Viciedo's team leading 10th of the season.

Hernandez was excellent as he earned his 4th win of the season.  One night after Charlotte starter Lucas Harrell struck out 10, Hernandez struck out seven.  Reliever Gregory Infante pitched two scoreless innings to close the game out.

The IronPigs Jeff Larish had four hits including a pair of doubles.  Lehigh Valley starter Nate Bump was given the loss after allowing six runs in 5.0 innings.
