SAN JOSE, CA- The San Jose Giants announced today that country artist Craig Campbell will sing the National Anthem prior to the 2013 California-Carolina League All-Star Game at Municipal Stadium on Tuesday, June 18. Campbell will sing the anthem before top prospects from the California and Carolina League take the field for the 17th California-Carolina League All-Star Game. It will be the first time the San Jose Giants have hosted this event.
"We are extremely excited to have Craig Campbell sing the National Anthem for the first-ever California-Carolina League All-Star Game in San Jose," said Juliana Paoli, San Jose Giants Chief Marketing Officer. "Each player in the All-Star Game is looking to prove themselves and one day get their shot to play in the major leagues. Campbell's status as an established country artist, who had to work his way up in the music world, is an example of what results from hard work and dedication."
Campbell's brand new single, "Outta My Head," is in the Top 40 and still climbing up the country radio charts. It is also the lead single from his sophomore album Never Regret. His self-titled debut album sold more than a half million tracks, including "Fish" and "Family Man," while earning rave reviews across the country in USA Today, Associated Press, People and The Washington Post. Prior to landing his own record deal, Campbell spent time on the road playing keyboards in bands for established artists Tracy Byrd and then Luke Bryan. Now, as the star of his own show, Campbell has been on the road with not only Bryan, but Alan Jackson, Keith Urban and Blake Shelton. He has toured across the country and internationally to Switzerland and Australia. After singing the anthem on June 18, Campbell will also perform a concert presented by KRTY at Club Rodeo in San Jose the night following the All-Star Game, Wednesday, June, 19. "I feel honored to be singing the National Anthem for the 2013 California-Carolina League All-Star Game," said Campbell. "I am excited to be a part of such a significant event with these rising stars and future major leaguers. I look forward to taking a swing in the Home Run Derby and seeing the fans in San Jose that have always been so great to me. PLAY BALL!"
