Blue Jays sign catcher George Kottaras

Veteran backstop played 13 games with Herd in 2014

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed C GEORGE KOTTARAS to a minor league contract. He was activated to the Buffalo Bisons roster today.

Kottaras, 32, played 31 games for the Charlotte Knights this season with a .247 average (24-97), seven home runs and 19 RBI. He played for three Major League teams in 2014, the Blue Jays, Cardinals and Cleveland, signing with Toronto on August 6. Before his promotion to Toronto, Kottaras hit .262 with three home runs and eight RBI in 13 games with the Bisons. He homered in back-to-back games, August 22 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and August 24 against Pawtucket.
