Schwinden Earns Player of the Week Nod

Schwinden picked up two wins for the Bisons this past week. The righty helped the Bisons snap an eight-game winless draught at Durham Bulls Athletic Park that dated back two years with a 9-1 victory on June 21. He allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work to the hard-hitting Bulls' lineup.

Schwinden was even better than his numbers will show in his victory on June 26 vs. Norfolk. The box score says three runs in seven innings, but those three tallies came after the fourth batter of the game hit a home run. After that, the Triple-A rookie retired a Bisons' season high 17 straight batters to help the Herd to their third straight win.

Schwinden now leads the Bisons in the pitching triple crown with five wins, a 3.12ERA and 67 strikeouts.

Schwinden was also National Fuel For Thought Player of the Week from May 2-8. He joins Nick Evans as the only players to win the award twice this season.
