Cecil to rehab for Bisons starting Monday
Southpaw has been on Blue Jays DL since June 19
The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that LHP BRETT CECIL will join the Bisons on Monday as part of an MLB injury rehab assignment.
CECIL has been on the Blue Jays disabled list on June 19 with a strained left groin. The southpaw has made 32 relief appearances with Toronto this year with a 0-3 record and a 3.76 ERA. In 26.1 innings, Cecil has struck out 36 batters and allowed just 29 hits. He pitched 11 consecutive scoreless outings May 13-June 10 for Toronto.
Cecil pitched in a career-high 60 games for the Blue Jays in 2013 and posted a 5-1 record and a 2.82 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 60.2 innings of work.
