Bisons add Cole Gillespie to roster
The Buffalo Bisons today announced that OF COLE GILLESPIE have been added to the club's roster after being outrighted to the Bisons earlier this week. The Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have recalled Bisons LHP ROB RASMUSSEN.
GILLESPIE, 30, began the 2014 season with Triple-A Tacoma before quickly receiving a big league promotion after hitting .362 (21-58) with five home runs and 14 RBI in only 16 games with the Rainiers. He then hit .254 (18-71) with a home run and five RBI in 34 games with the Seattle Mariners before being designated for assignment on July 5. Once claimed by the Blue Jays, he played one game for Toronto (0-3) before being placed on the disabled list with a strained oblique muscle.
Gillespie has played 113 games in the big leagues with Arizona, San Francisco, the Chicago Cubs, Seattle and Toronto. Combined, he has hit .230 (56-243) with 12 doubles, four home runs, 25 RBI and three stolen bases.
This is Rasmussen's fourth promotion to Toronto. In 27 total games with the Bisons, the southpaw is 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA and one save in 33.1 innings of work (28 H, 35 SO).
