SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – A two-out RBI single from Adrian Del Castillo was the only run the Reno Aces could produce during a 12-1 defeat at the hands of the Salt Lake Bees on Wednesday.
Though the Aces (21-26/53-69) had an inning-opening walk to Kristian Robinson erased on a double play, the still capitalized in that third frame with three straight hits to score a run. Pavin Smith started the train and came around to score, while the rehabbing Lourdes Gurriel Jr. kept the line moving in front of Del Castillo.
That was all the offense Reno could muster in a game that was otherwise controlled by the Bees (17-30/56-65), who tallied four in the opening frame to get the scoring started. Salt Lake went on to score in six of their eight at-bats, finishing with double-digit runs for the second straight day. This was the first time the Aces have allowed double-digit runs in consecutive games against the Bees in Salt Lake in franchise history.

Tagged with the loss was Aces starter Kohl Drake (3-7), who allowed five earned runs (six total) on four hits with five walks and one strikeout in 3.1 frames of work.
Tonight loss is the sixth in a row for Reno, their longest losing streak of the season and the longest by the Aces since they dropped a franchise record 12 consecutive games last season from Aug. 7-20, 2025.
The Aces will have the chance to end the skid when they meet the Bees in game three of their series on Thursday at 5:35 p.m. PT.
