Senators Lose Early 4-0 Lead, Fall to Sea Dogs 7-4

PORTLAND, Maine (Aug. 1, 2026) — The Senators jumped the Sea Dogs for four early runs to lead 4-0 in the third. Portland responded with seven unanswered runs, including a four-run sixth inning, to come back and win 7-4.
Harrisburg pitching issued seven walks and hit a batter. The Sens have averaged six walks per game this series.
Sam Petersen led off the game with a single. With two outs, Kervin Pichardo blasted a two-run homer to lead 2-0.
Petersen's reached base and scored to lead off each of the last three games.
In the second, TJ White singled and Sam Brown doubled to open the frame with men on second and third and nobody out. Caleb Farmer singled to left, scoring White to lead 3-0. Brown was thrown out at the plate attempting to score.
Branden Boissiere extended his hitting streak to 11 games in the third. He followed Cortland Lawson's double with a double of his own to stretch the lead to 4-0.
The Sea Dogs started chipping away in the bottom of the third against RHP Yoel Tejeda Jr. A Brooks Brannon sac fly and a Miguel Bleis RBI single cut the lead in half.
In the fifth, Portland added another run on Johanfran Garcia's RBI sac fly, bringing the Sens' lead to 4-3.
Tejeda went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, four walks, a hit batsman and five strikeouts.
RHP Brady Hill (L, 0-1) came on for the sixth. The first five men of the inning reached base on three hits and two walks. The Sea Dogs plated four runs to take a 7-4 lead.
RHP Chance Huff tossed his seventh straight scoreless outing with a one-two-three seventh inning, retiring the side on only eight pitches.
At the plate in the eighth, Harrisburg loaded the bases with three straight two-out singles but couldn't score. The Sens were without a hit from Boissiere's RBI single in the third until his two-out single in the eighth.
RHP Sandy Gaston followed with a scoreless eighth inning to hold the deficit to 7-4.
The Senators went down in order in the ninth, closing the 7-4 loss.
Harrisburg tries again for the series win Sunday at 1:00 p.m. RHP Riley Maddox (2-0) is scheduled for his second start of the series.
