Senators Hang on to Beat Baysox 5-4 to Even Series

The game began with a premier pitching matchup of top prospects. RHP Jarlin Susana started his first game for the Senators since August 30 of last year and opposed top Orioles prospect LHP Joseph Dzierwa.
Susana struck out the first two hitters of the game and retired the side in order in the first.
Harrisburg jumped in front in the bottom of the first. Devin Fitz-Gerald took Dzierwa deep the opposite way, homering for a 1-0 lead.
In the second, four straight one-out hits added to the lead. Sam Brown and Cortland Lawson hit back-to-back doubles. After a Devin Ortiz single, Nick Mitchell singled to score Lawson and lead 3-0.
Branden Boissiere led off the third with a double and came in to score on Ethan Petry's RBI double. The Sens led 4-0.
Harrisburg knocked seven extra-base hits off Dzierwa in five innings of work, including five doubles, a triple and a home run. The nine hits and four earned runs off the left-hander are both season-highs for Dzierwa in Double-A.
Meanwhile, Susana threw 2.2 scoreless innings in his return to the Senators, allowing only one hit, one walk and striking out four.
RHP Luke Young relieved Susana in a 2-2 count and struck out the lone batter he faced on one pitch.
Chesapeake got a run back off RHP Josh Randall in the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch to cut the Sens lead to 4-1.
In the eighth, with the Senators still leading 4-1, the Baysox loaded the bases with no outs. Randall then struck out the next two.
RHP Sandy Gaston (W, 3-4) came on and allowed all three inherited runners to score on a bases-loaded walk and two-RBI double before striking out Aron Estrada to end the inning. Chesapeake tied the game 4-4.
In the bottom of the eighth, Elijah Green drew a walk to lead off and advanced to third on Caleb Lomavita's one-out single.
Brown then singled into centerfield to score Green and put Harrisburg in front 5-4.
RHP Jhancarlos Lara (S, 1) came on for the ninth. He issued two walks but stranded the men at second and third for a scoreless inning to close the win.
Game three of the series comes Thursday at 6:30 p.m. LHP Josh Hartle (4-5) is scheduled for the start.
