Lomavita Walks Off Baysox with Two-Run Homer, Senators Win Series Finale 5-4

(Aug. 30, 2026) — Caleb Lomavita battled with the Baysox' Christian Herberholz in the bottom of the ninth after falling down in the count with a man on first and the Senators trailing by a run. On the 10th pitch of the at-bat, Lomavita launched a slider up in the zone out to deep left-centerfield for a two-run homer to lift Harrisburg on top 5-4.
It is the fourth walk-off win for the Sens this season.
The game held scoreless through the first three innings.
Chesapeake struck first on Colin Tuft's opposite-field three-run homer in the fourth off LHP Alex Clemmey to lead 3-0.
Aron Estrada followed in the next inning with a solo shot to lead 4-0.
Clemmey allowed the four runs in five innings on seven hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
Then the Senators started clawing back.
Ethan Petry doubled to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Lomavita then singled up the middle to score Petry and cut the deficit to 4-1.
In the sixth, James Wood hit a high fly ball to leftfield for a solo homer to trail 4-2. Wood went 1-for-3 with the home run in his rehab performance and came out of the game after the sixth inning.
In the seventh, Lomavita hit an opposite-field home run out to deep right-centerfield to bring the Sens within a run.
He then drove in Elijah Green, who singled to open the bottom of the ninth, on his walk-off homer. Lomavita drove in four of the five runs for Harrisburg in the win.
Meanwhile, the Senators bullpen held the Baysox in check over the final frames.
RHP Eriq Swan tossed 1.2 scoreless innings. RHP Blake Brown got the final out of the seventh for 0.1 scoreless innings.
RHP Kendeglys Virguez struck out two and retired the side in order in the eighth.
In the ninth, RHP Sandy Gaston (W, 4-5) stranded the bases loaded for a scoreless inning.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Harrisburg.
The Sens are back in action Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 6:30 p.m. The Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) come to the Island for the final home series of the season.
